The hip belt actually stays put through a full day of walking, which is exactly what I needed for my commute with a loaded pack. Attaching both to the pack took under a minute, and the tighter fit makes a huge difference on stairs and crowded trains.
My old pack always bounced on the trail, but clipping this set on solved it instantly. The hip belt takes most of the weight off my shoulders and the sternum strap keeps everything snug without digging in.
Finally got around to clipping these on for a longer hike and the difference is night and day.
