Coghlans Magnesium-sytytin

Took this on a weekend trek and the ferro rod threw sparks on my first real attempt after a couple practice scrapes. The magnesium shavings catch fire fast, even with damp kindling around. Solid little block for the weight it adds to your pack.

The scraping took a bit of practice to get right, but once I had a small pile of shavings, one spark from the flint had it going instantly. It's lightweight enough to toss in my daypack and forget about until I need a fire.

The ferro rod throws a fat shower of sparks the moment you scrape it right, even in a light breeze. I got a fire going on wet wood in under two minutes with the included striker, which felt pretty good for a first try.
